Meet Nick owner of a 96 Honda Acty Attack who has a flair for photography, along with his love for tiny trucks!
How did you first encounter the Kei truck greatness?
As for learning about these cool little trucks, I had only heard about them early last year. I bought a WPL RC Kei truck for fun because it was cheap. A couple friends jokingly said I should get a Kei truck. After finding out how much they were, I decided to look into it.
Tell us your Kei truck story, how did you acquire your badass ride?
After reading and looking around for a bit, I decided I would go with a Honda Acty. Simply because I liked it’s design and how it was mid-engine. Then I searched around for a bit and found an Acty Attack for sale fresh off a boat with a title in North Carolina. After discussing arrangements, the seller, Billy aka BT transportation and JDM imports delivered the truck to me in Ohio.

I still have a good list of things I plan to do to this truck. I recently got these Honda HX 14-inch wheels and it rides and looks much better. However, the suspension needs some work, as in new shocks and springs, so I’m looking into that. I’m also looking at getting a new exhaust and the interior reupholstered. Lastly, I plan on adding some more exterior lights and a subwoofer inside!
What do you mainly use your Kei Truck for?
I mainly drive my truck a few days during the week to work, classes and the occasional car show. I’ve had to use it a few times to move stuff around the property and it sure is useful for that stuff.
Have any wild Kei Truck tales or fun facts about your ride?
I wouldn’t really call this a fun fact, but from my knowledge my truck back in Japan was used on a small farm on Awaji Island. It wasn’t used much if any during its last year or two in Japan.
Favorite thing about owning a Kei truck?
Honestly the favorite thing for me is just owning it. It’s such a cool little machine, its cheap to maintain and good on gas! I do also enjoy the conversations that I get with this thing, it’s just a real eye opener around here!
