How did you first encounter the Kei truck greatness?
Encounters at a Downshift on the Gold Coast, Australia. My current friends Monica and Mitch had brought one to a car meet and I was in love with its size.
Tell us your Kei truck story, how did you acquire your badass ride?
After seeing my first Kei truck, I did research nonstop till 3am. This went on for a month till I got the courage to go through Ironchef imports to get one. As I was browsing, I found out they still currently make them new and found my 2022 Daihatsu Hijet Jumbo Extra 4×4. Then I purchased and waiting patiently 3 months to arrive. Iron chef imports was the cheapest and easiest importers to deal with.

My goal is to make an off-road unit to tackle Australian terrain and go travelling/camping. I am looking for a lift kit with bigger tyres, fender flares, skid plate, snorkel. Currently it has a 4 speaker sound system with a slim sun behind the seats and an exhaust. The tray has been fitted with a tub rack to hold my off-roading gear or my rooftop tent.
What do you mainly use your Kei Truck for?
Mainly for getting to and from work, love how fuel economic it is, and I use it for camping and off-roading.
Have any wild Kei Truck tales or fun facts about your ride?
Wild tales for my whip is I was able to tackle Noosa beach and headed up to double island point. While tracking up there, my truck ended up in the ocean and made it out alive! Don’t worry I had done plenty of rust protection before and after and had the truck flushed and washed multiple times.
Favorite thing about owning a Kei truck?
I love how small and universal it is, and how unique it is. I now get noticed all the time due to its uniqueness, and I love that I put a smile on faces.
